"50G-PON: The next big thing in fibre – or just the next big promise?"
On 14 April (09:30–11:00, Track 3), Kontron is hosting a workshop together with speakers from CityFibre, Deutsche Telekom, SIRO, Cyta and others, and will address the practical questions AltNets face:
- Is 50G-PON commercially justified today?
- Can it support enterprise, wholesale, smart city and backhaul use cases?
- Will operators consolidate onto one network or continue parallel builds?
- How does coexistence complexity affect ROI?
- Will existing fibre infrastructure support the transition?
At our booth S07, we are launching the Iskratel Lumia L8 (50G-PON OLT) and showcasing our Wi-Fi 7 capable CPE portfolio, engineered for scalable, high-capacity FTTH evolution.
Energy efficiency remains central to our design principles. Our Lumia C16 OLT consumes 46% less energy than the industry target, saving ~1.1 MWh annually per unit. Innbox G90/E90 gateways consume 40% less energy, saving 50+ kWh per subscriber annually. All figures are transparently benchmarked against EU CoC limits.
