Kontron has announced today the expansion of its successful and long-standing partnership with Oracle Cloud to deploy a Kontron Cloud 5G SA Core-based solution on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). This solution offers integrated automation and orchestration by design, showcasing technical superiority but also joint ambition of both companies focused on market development.
OCI is a portfolio of fully managed hardware and software solutions, extending Oracle Cloud’s infrastructure and services from the cloud to the edge and into customer data centers. Kontron 5G teams, in collaboration with Oracle Principal Architects, have successfully demonstrated the full implementation of the Kontron 5G SA Core on OCI. This includes the interconnection with 5G gNB on customer sites through a secure site-to-site encrypted VPN connection over the Internet.
The Kontron 5G SA Core solution is infrastructure-agnostic, facilitating a smooth transition from on-premise to cloud-based implementations easily and intuitively. Running Kontron 5G SA Core on Oracle Cloud will enable enterprises and industries to have a quick start and rapid deployment of 5G Mobile Private Networks with minimal investments and streamlined operation. Kontron continues to collaborate with partners to expand its 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) ecosystem, providing the freedom and adaptability to select the best configurations for specific use cases.
The feature for the 5G network is closely linked with cloud-native principles and a distributed system approach. Kontron and Oracle Cloud are jointly working to enhance the solution in that direction, aiming to offer the best of both worlds in Cloud and 5G.
The Kontron 5G Core solution on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is now available on the Oracle Cloud Marketplace for deployment, offering enterprises a gateway to enhanced 5G capabilities on their campuses with the reliability and scalability of Oracle Cloud.
