Public statement on current media coverage

Kontron remains fully committed to upholding international law

Kontron Slovenia is taking its obligations under international sanctions very seriously. We are committed to full compliance with all applicable EU regulations and have implemented robust measures to ensure adherence, including those outlined in Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014, which targets specific countries and entities.

A recent media post purports that sensitive technology has been allegedly sent to Russia by Kontron in 2023, despite sanctions, and inaccurately characterizes our equipment as “dual-use” and “surveillance technology”.

  1. The equipment in question in Kontron’s offering is a set of standard and certified communications equipment that has been widely adopted and used for years by telecom operators across the EU to provide internet connectivity and voice communications to households and businesses, especially in rural and underserved areas.
  2. For export of such equipment, we have obtained all the necessary export licenses, issued by the respective local authorities and fully in line with the sanctions and regulations in force at the time.
  3. Following the 11th package of EU sanctions in June 2023, we ceased to conduct further agreements or request export licenses for any products to the sanctioned countries and entities.

Kontron remains transparent with the public and responds to regulatory inquiries. We are committed to upholding international law, and we regret any misrepresentation that suggests otherwise. For further inquiries, please contact our local press office.
